US Federal Prosecutors

What the hell is going on?

Over the last few months or so, it’s become increasingly obvious that the liberal left wants a head on a platter. Or multiple heads on a platter, to be more accurate. Let us start with Scooter. Libby, that is. Although, on a side note, I think it would have been prudent for Libby to change his first name to James, or Walter…anything but Scooter. It would be like going to the doctor for a risky, highly invasive medical procedure and finding out your doctor’s name is Cletus. The name doesn’t exactly scream competence, but, I digress.

Scooter Libby was under investigation for the supposed outing of a “covert” CIA operative, Valerie Plame. By the way, Valerie? If you need someone to go under covers with, I’m your man. Call me…

Moving right along. Fitzgerald, the Federally appointed Prosecutor for the case found there were no grounds to charge Libby with anything related to the original crime in question. Obviously, Fitzgerald found that Plame wasn’t “undercover” according to the Undercover Act she was supposedly being protected by, or he would have filed charges as such. There were multiple requirements for an operative to be labeled as “undercover” or “covert”, and Plame, needless to say, did not meet these requirements. Yes, she worked for the CIA. At a desk. Maybe she “covertly” did paperwork at her desk. Hopefully in a miniskirt. Did anyone notice she’s pretty hot for her age? Being a spy just makes her hotter. Sorry, back on point. So no charges were filed for the “outing” of Valerie Plame, but yet after the verdict, she’s testifying before congress that she was undercover and was outed as part of Bush’s political agenda.

Two things. First, Fitzgerald knew before going into the trial that Armitage was the one who had leaked her identity, covert or not. But yet he still attempted to charge Libby for it? Does this make sense to anyone? How about the jurors that said “Why didn’t we get to go after Rove?” Rove? Where the hell did he come from? The jurors all knew by the time they walked out of there that Armitage was the one behind the leaking, yet they still wanted to go after Rove and the Bush Administration.

So we’ve pretty much established that liberals want one thing…power. To do so, heads must roll. Rumsfeld was first. Libby was the second. They wanted Rove, but so far, Bush has kept his boy Rove out of the spotlight. Their next target: Alberto Gonzalez. They want him fired because he fired some federal prosecutors, which he legally has been given the power to do so. prosecutors work at the will of the President. The current administration brought multiple cases for them to try; illegal immigration, gun control, obscenity to name a few. The cases were refused by the attorneys in question. Now mind you, these people are here to serve the President, who will give them cases based on the political views and policies of the administration. If these attorneys won’t try the cases that are important to the administration, then it is their prerogative to fire them and find people who will.

The worst part about all of this? Clinton fired ALL 93 of the federal prosecutors less than 3 months after taking office. Not 10 or 20 of them, all of them. Now the libs argument doesn’t directly address this fact as they have no logical rebuttal; they do make claims that the fired attorneys were all investigating the Bush Administration for miscellaneous improprieties. And I’m sure Bill Clinton wasn’t under ANY investigations at all being that he was such a morally upstanding man who never did anything wrong. I’m sure none of the people fired were conservatives who shivered at the thought of following Clintons liberal agenda. Look people, Bush has done nothing illegal. He has simply fired some of his staff.

If my boss tells me to create a spreadsheet by tomorrow, and I tell him no because I believe spreadsheets are bad for the environment, then I should expect him to find someone else who will do some freaking spreadsheets. That’s the way jobs work. You do what your boss tells you to do, and he sends you paychecks (hopefully) every once and a while.

In closing I ask only this, why is Bush letting the libs get away with this? Where did his balls go? He’s letting the libs devour his administration like Rosie at an All U Can Eat buffet.

Today we finally saw Bush stick up for Gonzalez, but we’ll see how far that goes. Hey, George? I know you’re reading this. Listen guy, it’s time to show the Dems who wears the pants in the White House. Is it Nancy Pelosi? Harry Reid? Chuck Schumer? Ted Kennedy?

Well, I certainly hope Ted isn’t behind the wheel of 1700 Pennsylvania, or behind the wheel of anything for that matter. Honestly, the Kennedy’s just need to stay away from all vehicles. The younger Kennedy thinks Sleeping Pills are something you take in preparation for going to the bar. The elder Kennedy thinks cars with girlfriends in them tend to float when driven into lakes (through scientific experimentation, Kennedy was able to prove his hypothesis false). And last, but not least, well, I think it’s probably too early to joke about the “Flying Kennedy”…or not flying, as it may be…

Well said. I think you will find few defenders of old Teddy but I don't have a problem with most of the rest of his family. That being said, the guy is surprisingly resilient for an old fart, isn't he? I mean how many times has he won reelection? Where are those term limits we so desperately need?

I think George is feeling a bit overwhelmed after the changing of the guard and with Iraq and all the other crazy stuff going on it keeps a guy busy. I'm not sure that made sense, but at least it was a terrible sentence.

So we’ve pretty much established that liberals want one thing…power.

And Republicans don't? This is crazy Daniel. EVERYONE in Washington wants power. The fact is there is corruption in the Bush White House and it is being investigated. The same thing happened to Clinton, Reagan, and Nixon. Trying to act like this is some new fangled thing that liberals are all of a sudden doing is childish at best and partisan petty bullshit at worst. Stop drinking the GOP/Fox News Kool-Aid for five minutes and think about this clearly Daniel. You are smarter than just regurgitating nonsense from right-wing talking heads. Think for yourself for a few minutes will you please? That'd be great. Thanks.

You know Dave, if I didn't know better, I might think you were plucking one little snippet out of this whole long post and over analyzing it. But you wouldn't do that, because I know how much you hate it when it happens to you.

I think you make a valid point about everyone in Washington wanting power. I also think that there is always corruption that goes with that power. We have all heard the maxims about power corrupting people.

As for the current goings on that Daniel was discussing, I think it is exactly the partisan petty BS you were talking about. I won't speak for him, but he seems to think so too, in not so many words. Do I think that it's necessarily new? Not really. Do I think the liberals invented it? Not necessarily. I think this kind of thing has been going on so long it's only safe to say the politicians invented it.

Since I don't pay much attention to talking heads of any stripe, maybe you could enlighten me as to which talking heads are being regurgitated here. I'm just curious.

You can hear this same exact argument from Limbaugh and Hannity. If you think that Fitzgerald is part of some left-wing conspiracy to get Bush, you are missing some very important information. He is a freaking Republican!!!

As far as the "plucking one little snippet out of this whole long post and over analyzing it" comment is concerned...I picked this sentence to quote because it encompasses the entire gist of Daniel's rant. He believes that only Democrats want power and he is wrong. You admitted so yourself (albeit in a half-assed kind of way...no offense). My point is that Washington is corrupt and it doesn't matter if you are Republican or Democrat. The system is corrupt and breeds corruption. Trying to play it off like it is a sin only liberals are capable of is laughable and ignorant.

Well David, I find your comments shallow and pedantic. HA!

Listen. These are rants, David. Not research papers or dissertations. I'm not sitting here for six hours researching before I post a blog as that wouldn't leave much time for work or sleep. Keep that in mind.

Second. I said liberals want power. You said Republicans want power too. This is somewhat of a childish "but he did it too so it's okay" argument, but let's run with it. Republicans want power. What for? I'm thinking you would say "to control every aspect of my life and know everything I do". Something liberally retarded like that. Bombs and tapped phones and Bush's oil. Whatever. Are the republicans telling you to stop eating the food you like? Are the Republicans trying to take away free speech on the Radio? Are they trying to take away our right to defend ourselves? To discipline our kids as we see fit? Are they trying to take away our freedom to practice religion as we please?

We could go tit for tat all day, but the left seems to think that everyone in America is a friggin retard. No one knows how to take care of themselves, so they are going to do it for us. Republicans want people to be safe, free, and responsible. So, they might listen to a phone call of yours if you happen to be a terrorist calling a terrorist. Hell, someone might even accidentally listen to you talking to your wife about dinner tonight! As soon as you mistakenly said the secret terrorist code phrase "aww, mashed potatoes again!", they send in Jack Bauer to take your ass out.

1. I never said the desire for power was okay, you are puttting words into my mouth. You made an assumption that the desire of power was only something that Democrats want and I was pointing out where you were wrong.
2. You say that "Republicans want people to be safe, free, and responsible" yet it is Republicans who constantly tell people what they can and cannot do in their bedrooms. It is Republicans who want to control the morality of the country based on their narrow view of what is right and wrong.
3. I know these are rants but it would be nice if your rants didn't sounds EXACTLY like the latest edition of the Rush Limbaugh show.
4. You yourself, Mr. Super GOPman, have often commented on the stupidity of others. Don't go and calling the kettle black there pot. You think the world is full of morons.

I think you are putting words in his mouth Dave. I also think you just called him a moron but perhaps I misread between the lines.

Dave, I find it thoroughly amusing that you say ¨ Stop drinking the GOP/Fox News Kool-Aid for five minutes¨, especially considering your membership in MoveOn.org who somewhat recently admitted to ¨Owning the democratic party¨. They also have been known to wear tin foil hats.

At least Fox News doesn´t claim to own the Republican party. They at least lie to you and say they are fair and balanced. P.M.S.NBC doesn´t even go that far.

By the way. I´m having a great time in Spain. I´m in an internet cafe right now reading about Dave calling me a moron :o)

I´ll bring a few souvenirs for the people who don´t call me a moron while I´m gone(sucks for you Dave). J-K.

Later guys.

I did not call Daniel a moron, you are putting words in my mouth Daniel (sooner fan).

As I have said before MANY times, I am not a fan of MoveOn.org. I receive their emails because I filled out a petition once. There are a handful of issues in which MoveOn.org and I are on the same page and that is it. This is completely different from the way that my good friend Daniel reiterates on a daily basis the GOP talking points.
